Leadership Reset Intensive

Being a higher ed leader doesn’t have to consume your life...but how can you get the right proactive skills and tools you need to get ahead of the daily fires you’re always fighting?

As a higher ed leader, it can seem that everything feels like the highest priority except the availability of time.

There are numerous faculty, staff, students and employees to meet, community leaders and donors to contact, a team to build and engage, and a litany of conflicts or crises to resolve. On top of that, there is the constant revolving door of new leaders coming in or leaving the university. No wonder so many of us are experiencing whiplash with the constant shifting of priorities. When everything feels urgent, your leadership may need a hard reset.

During the Leadership Reset Intensive, we will work together over the course of 5 hours to solve your most important leadership goal or challenge and design a plan to help you achieve it during the next semester or academic year.

This intensive offers you a unique experience to focus on your priorities and development.

Instead of scheduling coaching sessions over time in between busy meetings, you can make substantial progress on your key leadership challenge or goal in one day. You will leave feeling empowered and have a clear plan about how you can lead with greater purpose, impact, and ease.

Clients tell me that I am a supportive thought partner who can take the jumble inside their heads and translate that into clear actions, and they leave feeling empowered because of the custom tools and resources I have designed for them. I would love to serve as your thought partner and help you build the skills and systems you need to have in place to ensure that you can have a rewarding and sustainable academic year.

We will work together to outline and plan your Leadership Reset 90-Day Action Plan.

For example, I have helped leaders:

  • Re-design their roles and successfully advocate for them

  • Improve a key leadership skill such as managing conflict, delegating, or leading strategically

  • Create new systems to manage their time and energy so they can prioritize their most strategic work and reduce overwhelm

  • Prepare for a transition in leadership either immediately above them or at the very time, and different tone is being set in the institution

  • Rebuild or re-engage their team

  • Create an action plan to navigate the next step in their career

  • Make sense of challenging feedback in a 360 report or performance review and develop a clear action plan that will help them make substantive progress.

The 1-on-1 Intensive Process

Onboarding Call

We will have a one-hour call 1-2 weeks before your intensive to discuss priorities, deliverables, and expectations.

Intensive

We will spend 5 hours together (with breaks). In the morning, we will identify and discuss the root causes behind your key challenge and how you can re-align with your purpose, strengths and values so you can address this challenge and lead with greater impact and ease. I’ll coach you on the key skill you want to build and take you through the process of designing new systems that allow you to achieve your goal in a sustainable, kind-to-yourself way. We’ll take a lunch break. Then, we’ll map out a concrete 90-day plan tailored to your specific leadership goal and discuss strategies to execute your plan.

Implementation Session

You’ll have a 1-hour implementation session where we can meet to discuss your progress and answer any questions you might have.

Jennifer Scott Mobley, Ph.D.

Ph.D., Communication, Ohio University
Certified Executive Coach, Center for Executive Coaching Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach

I am an executive coach that helps higher education leaders cultivate the mindset and skill set needed to thrive in an ever-changing world so they can lead with greater purpose and ease.

Informed by 15+ years of progressive experience as a higher education leader, I work with chairs and deans to vice presidents and provosts as they navigate change in higher education and the next step in their careers.

I have worked with numerous clients in education and business including New York University, University of Chicago, University of Tennessee, Furman University, Case Western Reserve University, Colby College, Commonwealth University, Microsoft, and GE Aviation.

I would love to work together with you.

Jennifer blends extensive higher education leadership experience and coaching expertise to help leaders answer the question, "Where do I go from here?" Our sessions sparked lively dialogue that helped me better articulate career goals. She then offered both practical tools and strategies for how I could best accomplish them. Perhaps her greatest strengths are the deep listening skills that she brings to her sessions. She identified issues and strategies that I would not have found on my own. From our interaction I have a better-developed action plan.

Thomas King, Chair & Professor, Department of Accountancy, Case Western Reserve University

From our first encounter, Jennifer had a warmth that helped me to immediately connect with her. Though I was experiencing a family health challenge, I still managed to have a very productive and emotionally rewarding year and I think a great part of that was due to Jennifer. She helps me to think differently about a variety of professional issues from how I plan my time to what matters most to me. She has become a trusted confidant who has guided me in reflecting on and helped me to make realizations about challenges I face and how best to address them. Not only does Jennifer have great institutional knowledge of how universities work, but she is an expert in many fields of personal and professional development.  I give Jennifer Mobley my highest recommendation. She is an expert coach and a great listener who will help you to understand how to achieve your greatest potential. She will become your biggest champion.
